THE DESIGNS

We make clothes that are modern, simple, and comfortable. As busy women, we want clothes that are chic, effortless and unfussy. In this collection, the wonderfully stretchy cotton spandex fabric eliminates the need for excess zippers and buttons, allowing the pieces to be simply pulled over or slipped on and you're done. For us mamas chasing after rambunctious toddlers, it saves a lot of wrestling and time. The coordinating outfit concept in the collection is lighthearted and perfect for memory-making. It's fun to be out and about in matching clothes with our little ones. They're great for family photos, travels, or even just for lounging around. True to Mien, this collection offers timeless, understated styles in beautiful, sophisticated colors that are easy to wear.

THE factory

We appreciate the people who help bring our designs to life. We only work with factories in L.A. that are looking to build a long term relationship with our brand, instead of ones seeking short term projects to fill their schedules. This ensures a commitment to quality in all aspect of our production process. How our collection is made matters to us. The workers are paid living wages, take one-hour lunches, regular breaks and work in a large, well-lit and airy space with music playing in the background. I pay regular visits to the factory and during production, work there alongside our sewers to help with sorting, finishing, ironing and packing of our collection.

THE FABRIC

We use only the best quality, most comfortable materials to make your clothes. It's also important to us that the fibers are sustainable and eco-friendly. This collection includes fabric made with 100% GOTS certified organic cotton fibers - which is not only biodegradable, but grown from non-GMO seeds and free of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, and responsibly cultivated and harvested. I sampled many different weights of fabric and finally decided on a thick, substantial cotton knit that has a beautiful hand. The fabric is custom woven for us by a family-owned textile mill in Los Angeles. Not all cotton fabrics are created the same way - our fabric has longer cotton fiber strands and is densely packed, which makes for a tighter weave, resulting in a superb finished fabric at the end.

What does GOTS certified stand for?

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the world's leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, including ecological and social criteria, backed by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. Learn more at Global Organic Textile Standard Organization

THE DYE HOUSE

Our entire line is garment dyed right here in Los Angeles. After the custom knitted cotton fabric is completed, we cut and sew the pieces then deliver them to our favorite local wash house for garment dying in custom blended colors just for us. We use a specific dying process that doesn't require toxic binding agents. Because the dying process shrinks natural fibers like cotton considerably, we went through the process of calculating and testing shrinkage so the clothes arrive at your doorstep pre-shrunk, with a fit that stays consistent wash after wash. Even better, the labor intensive dying process gives our clothes a lovely, broken-in vintage look and feel that is soft to the touch right out of the box.
